Karwia almost
swept away - is it possible?
Very
few people can possibly imagine that this tourist spot with a beautiful beach
would have been almost all gone... That's right. In 1978 on New Year's
Eve a Dutch ship ' The Anna Broere', which carried chemicals in its cargo
holds, went aground near Karwia. Only the boards on wooden pegs in the coastal
forest informed about the danger. They designated a danger zone. In October 1994
Stanislaw Rutkowski, the managing
director of The Polish Ship Salvaging, spilt the beans. He said that if the
chemicals from 'The Anna Broere' hag flowed into the Baltic Sea, the local
people would have to have been evacuated as far as Tricity. Rhew...fortunately
everything ended happily.
For those in love - 'the beach of love'
It is an ideal place for lovers' walks. Just go along the Karwia's beach to the
West, maybe a bit further. The exceptional atmosphere of this place affects
people to such an extent that if ionly the dunes could speak. Anyway, I won't
elaborate on it, check for yourselvesJ The iodine I suggest taking a long walk
along the beach right after the storm.
The sea water
contains a huge amount of iodine, which is invaluable to your health.
Because of the evaporation the iodine is absorbed into your lungs like aerosols,
it leaves you with a feeling of freshness and relaxation.
You will sleep like a log after such a walk...
